I had a tandem recumbent I had picked up as a novelty purchase and I was having too much fun with it. I was also experiencing some pains and after effects from my traditional upright bike riding. So I decided I needed to try a more efficient single person recumbent bike and see if recumbent riding might be something I should get more serious about. I researched and found a lot of positive information about Cruzbikes. So I bought an older Quest and immediately fell in love with it and I've been a huge recumbent enthusiast ever since. I love doing trail rides all over the mid Atlantic region and I've even biked through Europe with the Quest. But recently I picked up a Gen5 S40 and WOW... it's next level. The roads near my home in Towson are beautiful, but pretty hilly. So it's been difficult to use my other recumbents for these steep grades. But I put some shorter cranks and a really low granny gear on my S40 and now I'm able to ride through the beautiful Peidmont region of Northern Baltimore County using scenic winding country roads and it's been WONDERFUL. The S40 with it's balanced geometry and rigid lateral stiffness using thru axles is the PERFECT bike for these rides.
